However, a kid's life is made up of spontaneous adventures. A chocolate stain at a snack, a slip in the frosty grass at the park or simply the passage of time can dull the shine of these precious pieces. How to wash your Down jacket without altering its swelling? How to protect the materials that make up the Bonton wardrobe? Follow our guide for a Care easy and effective, in the purest spirit of the House.

Each model has its own secret

Advice from our Studio: Each Bonton creation is unique. Before starting any care ritual, we invite you to carefully consult the composition label sewn inside. It contains instructions specific to your model to help you preserve its look and softness season after season.

Down and Natural Feather

Used in our hottest models, like the Down jacket Husky Pink clear, and Husky Navy or our extreme cold parkas, down and feather offer natural and incomparable thermal insulation. It is this filling which gives this “cloud” appearance and this lightness. Down is a living material that needs air to remain insulating. This is the secret to the comfort of our models designed to face the coolest temperatures.

The Wadding High Performance Technique

For our lighter or reversible models, like the Down jacket without sleeve Wof Blue Navy, we use high quality synthetic wadding. They perfectly imitate the loft of down while offering increased resistance to humidity and great ease of use.Care, ideal for the hectic daily lives of kids up to 12 years old.

Signature Details

Pay particular attention to the finishes that make up the Bonton style: the Button engraved snaps, the colorful zips of our flashy down jackets Mini Fleet Pink Blossom, or Meli Girl Silver, star-printed linings on the Down jacket Sailor et our water-repellent fabrics. These details require careful handling so as not to lose their shine and functionality.

Anticipation: Waterproofing, the Invisible Shield

We don't always think about it before the first wash, but waterproofing prolongs the life of the Coat. Our fabrics receive treatment Water-repellent in the workshop, but with time and friction (the school backpack, the stroller harness), this protection can weaken.

The Bonton council: Apply a waterproofing spray (silicone-free) to your Down jacket clean and dry. Spray from about 20 cm evenly. This keeps water out and creates a barrier against mud or taste stains. Waterproofed clothing is clothing that stays clean longer!

The Preparation Ritual: A Gesture of Precision

We do not place a Down jacket Water-repellent or a Bonton parka in the machine without careful preparation.

- Empty pockets : The kids collect treasures (rocks, ride tickets, small toys). Check the pockets carefully to avoid tearing the Lining.

- Protect the Accessories : Systematically remove the fur trims (removable on most of our models) using pressure. Fur should never be washed in water.

- Close to protect : Pull up the zippers and close the snaps. This prevents the metal from catching on the fabric during washing.

- Turn the garment inside out : Always wash inside out to protect the shine of our iconic colors.

The Serenity Option: Why Choose Dry Cleaning?

For our largest models or those adorned with fragile details, pressing remains an excellent option. Professional cleaning ensures that the down of your Down jacket does not clump. It's the "zero stress" option for busy parents. We recommend professional cleaning at least once a year, at the change of season.

Home Washing: Mastering Gentleness
If you prefer to maintain your Down jacket at home, the golden rule is low temperature.

The choice of laundry detergent
Use a liquid detergent for delicate laundry. Ban the fabric softener : it greases the feathers and fibers, causing them to lose their precious “fluffiness”.

The Ideal Program
Cycle "Wool" or "Delicate" to 20°C or 30°C maximum. Water that is too hot is the enemy of technical fibers.

The Tennis Ball Tip
Place two clean tennis balls into the drum. They will "beat" the Down jacket during washing to prevent the filling from settling.

The “Feather” Spin
Opt for a gentle spin at 600 rpm. Too fast (beyond 800 revolutions), it could break the feathers or force the seams.

Drying: Bringing Volume Back to Life

This is the crucial step. Forget drying on a hanger or on a radiator: the feathers will dry in clumps and lose their heat.

The secret? Tumble dry at low temperature. Choose the “Delicate” program (40-50°C maximum). With the two tennis balls, the movement will restore all its volume to the down. Take it out Down jacket every 30 minutes to shake it vigorously. Once dry, it should be as light as a cloud.

Wintering: Preparing the Cloakroom for the Summer

When spring comes, prepare storage

Pre-cleaning : Never store a dirty room. Small stains can become permanently embedded over time.

The choice of cover : No airtight plastic! Down must breathe. Use a cotton cover or canvas bag.

Do not compress : Hang it Down jacket without squeezing it between other clothes so that the fibers are not crushed.

Natural protection : A sachet of cedar or lavender in the locker room will protect natural materials while leaving a Perfume frais.

Errors to Avoid: The Little Memo

Never iron : The heat will melt technical fabrics.

Drying on hanger : Wet down is heavy, it would fall while Bottoms of Coat.

The burning radiator : Risk of irreparable damage to the exterior fabric.

Rushed storage : Always wait 24 hours after drying to be sure that no moisture remains.

A Down jacket well maintained, it is the promise of a thousand and one adventures in the great outdoors. By taking care of these pieces, you preserve their warmth and the memories of bursts of laughter under the snowflakes.
